1.
What's inside your palace of mind? I can see you don't want to say it Doors are creaking, roof is leaking How rude of me! Come inside! Throw my front door open wide Walls of stone Blocked from view Open up my gate for you Lights are off, Curtains drawn Bring light back into this home Step inside Me and you Bring this house a ghost or two
2.
She awakens into night, and bathes herself in light Provides a place within the emptiness for life Our graves we open wide, and cast our beating hearts inside In favor of the seductive afterlife While we search the dark for signs Of one who might share our unique predicament We might consider not killing ourselves Before we find out whether or not we're alone While we hold debate over established truths We inscribe a pair of dates, inter the human race In this celestial tomb Down and down you sink On we go You can't lie to us Anymore Whereas once we were naïve Well, now we know Now we're digging you the deepest hole We've ever dug (Money, power, politics Once we've rendered ourselves extinct Please tell me the importance of your Money, power, politics...)
3.
Uruk 06:27
I'm thinking of leaving home for a while The city's changed into something that I didn't have in mind I'm thinking of staying home for a while They say it's rain until Monday, but I guess that I don't mind I need to find What's hidden in the forest What's buried in the earth What's far across the sea If all this suffering's made us immortal but not free And what is meant for me It's all coming away in tatters These preconceptions And I feel so naked without it This self deception I should go home and think about it
4.
Dying day I look toward the sun, as it dips away Spreading night The moon presides, the stars provide their ancient light How strange of all this to be here, observed by only us Who arrogantly declare ourselves lords of this mote of dust Suspended in beams of sunlight Suspended in disbelief Suspended by strings of ignorance and greed Not thinking... How strange to be....anything Would you say home is too valuable to throw away? An unlikely order in the swirling dark Unknown, but knowing
5.
Portal 06:57
Denial is An impermanent remedy for fear We have searched the universe But haven't found the sun Walk the cosmic ocean side Wait for the tide to come Common though we are, are we alone? We may never know From above it looking down As the stars are going out, I see it now I see you Without fear you travel on Deeper into the unknown With every passing lightyear you know You will never see the lights of home At last, we pay our debt of time And we say goodbye A portal to another place and time Do we step through tonight
6.
Observer 06:56
I observe As if on the outside I recall As if from a past life I know you have something to tell me But you haven't made a sound I've got something to say... But that's how it goes You See things in another light Take our space As we learn to compromise Take the long road to where we're going As if we both don't know You're ready to tell her everything But you don't even say a word the whole ride home Winter's come and your tree of words stands naked and alone Once green and vital, now barren Words left unspoken, now fallen without a sound And there they lie, decaying on the ground (Guitar solo - Jacob Westgaard)
7.
Drive 06:39
Drive home alone Again Night roads follow the most familiar way Cross the bridge where I could see her eyes reflecting city lights on the river Windows down, stars are bright Into the summer sky I'll drive tonight What's ahead for you and I? Can I offer you a ride? Nothing left for me behind Nothing left to do but drive Windows down, hearts alive Into another life we'll drive tonight What is left for you and I? Close the door and speak your mind Dash lights dancing in your eyes Drive in silence 'til we both forget to ask why Go Run away Drive away from here
8.
I emerge from sleep I am growing older Summer is hidden 'neath a blanket of leaves Winds are blowing colder There's no going back the way you came Even if you could return You'd find nothing you left behind remains Plum trees line the pathway leading home Guiding me along a trail of leaves Ever blooming in eternal spring Of my memory (Guitar solo, Nicholas Decker) To my home I am going I will not return Where the tree is growing Above and below the earth Climbing higher Seeing further to my past The leaves that fell on me as a child They are growing green as a man
9.
Alone we are Benighted Together Enlightened Mind's eye fragments I make them whole Inside this palace of the mind I'm in control Would if we could speak as if we were not accountable Confusing as this mask would seem to be to others It makes perfect sense to me Be at peace It's OK to fear To feel the need to scream To feel that something's changed Or nothing's changed Or something's changing me Enticing me, Driving me To sleep beneath the freeze I don't need to know what you mean To intently admire this thing Through this transformation You and I will become New again And bound to something older than the gods We are all connected by it And yet we feel so alone

about

Farcaster is a self titled debut, but in reality it is the second album from the Portland, Oregon based band formerly known as City.

Where "On the Edge of Forever" leaned heavily on influences such as Devin Townsend, Opeth, and others, "Farcaster" represents an attempt to create a record that can stand on its own creative feet.

Thanks as well to our friends, family, and fellow Portland musicians.
